Mwasalat Launches First Electric Bus in Oman
Under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, Mwasalat, a member of Asyad Group, launched the first electric bus in Oman. This event took place on the sidelines of UITP MENA Conference 2024 hosted in Salalah. The launch is part of the company`s efforts to enhance the sustainability of the public transport system in Oman and reaffirm its commitment to operational sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The electric bus measures 8.94 meters in length, 2.42 meters in width, and 3.3 meters in height. It has a seating capacity for 28 passengers and can accommodate up to 35 standing passengers. The bus is electronically configured to travel at speeds ranging from 70 to 130 km per hour, making it suitable for urban use. It features an advanced propulsion system with a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a lithium iron phosphate battery with a capacity of 211.43 kWh, ensuring high performance and sustainability. The battery complies with the standards of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, ensuring a high level of safety and quality in line with global specifications.
The launch of this electric bus marks a pioneering step towards enhancing the sustainability of the transport sector in Oman. It supports national efforts to achieve the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050, in accordance with the sustainability strategy set by Asyad Group.
