Oman National Transport Company “MWASALAT” was founded
in 1972. The main goal of the establishment was to provide transportation
services to schools’ students within Muscat Governorate. In June 1975, it
started to operate the public transport services. Additionally, it was awarded
the concession for providing the public transport services to all parts of the
Sultanate of Oman by Royal Decree (84/59) in the 5th of July 1984.
Moreover, it is deemed as permanent member of the International Association of
Public Transport (UITP) and the leading public transport company in the Middle
East. In November 2015, the company launched its new identity "MWASALAT”.
Nowadays, MWASALAT – Bus Operations covers number of main routes and maintain
the economic value of the Sultanate.
Ferries
National Ferries Company “MWASALAT” was established in
2008 as major infrastructure in maritime transportation field for the Sultanate
of Oman. Additionally, it aims to provide linkage between the regions of the
Sultanate and facilitating the movement of maritime transport. Since Oman`s
coastline stretches for a distance of 3,165 km, ferry services become a
necessity for citizens and tourist alike to travel between ports of the
Sultanate. Furthermore, passengers enjoy the picturesque and majestic coastline
while relaxing in the high comfortable seats and receiving First-Class service
onboard. On the other hand, MWASALAT – Ferry Operations plays a significant
role in corporate social responsibility; especially during the pandemics and
natural disasters. Nowadays, the company operates 6 vessels which covers 6
destinations within the Sultanate.
